Import Interfaces - SMX, Part Modeler, STL and VISI - Options

Designer allows you to import files from SMX, Part Modeler, STL and VISI software:

  • SMX (file format *.smx) is a standardised interface used to exchange production information about sheet metal parts, for example, folding components, from design software to CNC machines.

    The files in this format include all of the information and data for the entire production process (project, components, profiles and machining) and provide a parametric description of the geometry of the sheet metal components as well as further information on the complete process from design to manufacturing.

  • Part Modeler (files format *.pmod and *.a3mod ) is a 3D modelling tool providing tools for the simple construction and modification of solid models with fully associative drafting capability.
  • STL allows you to import the triangle entities from an STL file. An STL file is a triangular representation of a 3-dimensional surface geometry. The surface is tessellated or broken down logically into a series of small triangles (facets). Each facet is described by a perpendicular direction and three points representing the vertices (corners) of the triangle.
  • VISI (file format *.wkf) is a PC based CAD CAM software solution for the Mold & Die industries which offers:
    • A unique combination of applications.
    • Fully integrated wireframe, surface and solid modelling.
    • Comprehensive 2D, 3D and 5 axis machining strategies.

Note:

In all cases, Designer directly imports the files from the native software and no parameters need to be specified.
