Angular dimension

This function allows you to create an angular dimension between two segments or lines (including elements of a solid or of a profile), between a segment/line and an axis, or between points and centres of arcs/circles.

Access

  • In the Annotations tab, click the icon in the Simple section of the ribbon.
  • Type angle in the Quick Search field and select Angle from the result list.

This opens the Angle - Options tab which is displayed along with the ribbon containing the Environment, Filters and Attributes sections.

This also opens the Angular dimension dialog box. ClosedSee dialog box.

Procedure

Between 2 elements

  1. Select the appropriate Filters options.
  2. Select the first element.
  3. Select the second element.
  4. Select the appropriate options in the tabs of the dialog box.
  5. Click a point to position the angular dimension.
  6. Repeat these steps to create other annotations. It is possible to reset the previously selected points and elements by clicking on the and icons to switch back into the selection mode.
  7. Validate and escape from the command, either by a Right Mouse click, by clicking the or the Cancel icon from the dialog box or the Esc key.

Angular dimension with hidden arc, outside arrows and moved text:

Between points/centres of arcs/circles

  1. Select the appropriate Filters options.
  2. Select the first element.
  3. Select the first point or circle/arc centre.
  4. Select the second point or circle/arc centre.
  5. Select the appropriate options in the tabs of the dialog box.
  6. Click a point to position the angular dimension.
  7. Repeat these steps to create other annotations. It is possible to reset the previously selected points elements by clicking on the and icons to switch back into the selection mode.
  8. Validate and escape from the command, either by a Right Mouse click, by clicking the or the Cancel icon from the dialog box or the Esc key.

Common parameters

Top Toolbar

These two icons at the top of the dialog box allow you to Apply the current values or to Cancel the current function.

Preview generation is Automatic if this option is active in the dialog box menu accessed by clicking on the icon. If this option is not active, click on the icon. If preview generation is not possible, the icon is greyed out.

Information Field

The field at the bottom of the dialog box displays information about missing data, errors or actions.

General tab

First entity

Clicking on the icon switches back into the selection mode allowing you to modify your selection by selecting/unselecting elements in the graphic area. Use the icon (or Right Mouse click) to Validate your selection. The icon (or [Esc]) cancels the selection mode. 

Second point

Clicking on the icon switches back into the point selection mode allowing you to select another point in the graphic area.

Second entity

Clicking on the icon switches back into the selection mode allowing you to modify your selection by selecting/unselecting elements in the graphic area. Use the icon (or Right Mouse click) to Validate your selection. The icon (or [Esc]) cancels the selection mode. 

Second point

Clicking on the icon switches back into the point selection mode allowing you to select another point in the graphic area.

Internal line

This option allows you to deactivate the arc display of the dimension. It also activates the Outside arrows option.

Move text

This option allows you to pick the position of the text on the angular dimension. When activated, the text dynamically follows the mouse cursor. Click to validate text and angular dimension position.

Arrows

  • Inside: This option allows you to add inside arrows to the angular dimension.
  • Outside: This option allows you to add outside arrows to the angular dimension.

Counterclockwise

This option allows you to create the complementary angular dimension.

Angular format

Select the angular dimension format from the drop-down list:

  • dd°.
  • dd° mm'.
  • dd° mm' ss''.
